The Jewish Studies Program at The Pennsylvania State University
invites applications for
the Chaiken Family Chair in Jewish Studies,
a tenured position that will begin in August, 2013. Established faculty in all areas of Jewish Studies are invited to apply, but one of the following fields is preferred: Judaism in the Hellenistic/Roman Periods; Modern Israeli/Middle Eastern History; or American Jewish History (Early Modern or Modern). Applicants should currently hold the rank of associate professor or professor. Tenure would be granted in another Liberal Arts field depending on the successful candidate’s expertise, for example, history or classics and ancient Mediterranean studies. While the particular area of research specialization is open, the ideal candidate will have a proven record of research and publications that forge connections across traditional disciplinary boundaries and new fields of inquiry. We seek a distinguished scholar with a dynamic research agenda, who will play a leadership role in our growing program. Excellent teaching abilities and a strong interest in teaching courses at all levels are essential. Applications received on or before December 1, 2012 will be guaranteed full review.
