East Texas Baptist University seeks to fill a full-time position in Practical Theology/Christian Ministry to begin in Fall 2013. The candidate must be qualified to teach a diverse undergraduate and graduate biblical curriculum including both Old Testament and New Testament Introductions, Ministry Formations, Evangelism, Christian Servant Leadership, Expository Preaching, and Youth and Christian Education. The person must demonstrate broad ecumenical sympathies but be particularly knowledgeable of the Baptist tradition, specifically the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The ability to relate to the practical concerns of the church is expected. Other responsibilities include student advising and participation in university life. This position includes teaching, advising, and serving on university committees. Rank is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Women and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
ETBU faculty are required to hold appropriate doctoral degrees. Demonstrated abilities in effective classroom teaching and scholarly research are preferred. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is also desired. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of professional involvement and a desire to teach in a Christian liberal arts institution. Candidates must have a strong commitment to academic rigor and teaching, the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues, an appreciation for Christian higher education, and must demonstrate a personal Christian faith. ETBU faculty members are expected to participate in the life of the University via faculty meetings/workshops and by participating in/attending student activities and events.
