Call For Papers: Topic for 2021 ISBL: Bible and Democracy through a Postcolonial Lens. The world witnesses to democracy in crisis on a global scale. Such civil rights movements as Black Lives Matter in the United States, Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong, Candle Light Movement in South Korea poignantly observes a new appearance of the multitude with different social and cultural backgrounds and its involvement with the democratic movement in its own context. The Bible has been used in different ways by multiple parties in these social movements. We will have an invited session to develop the idea of democracy in conversation with the Bible in global contexts, especially from a postcolonial perspective. Additional papers related to this or other themes are welcomed in our open session.
