Theta Alpha Kappa

The National Board of Directors of Theta Alpha Kappa invites entries for the 2019 Albert Clark Award, given annually for the best papers in religious studies or theology, as judged by a panel established by the Board. Undergraduate and graduates students who are members of Theta Alpha Kappa are encouraged to review competition guidelines and eligibility requirements found on their website (http://thetaalphakappa.org/). The submission deadline is:
January 25, 2019.

SBL International Travel Awards Applications

The SBL International Travel Award applications are now open. These awards offer opportunities to current SBL members outside North America to attend the Annual or International Meeting, to participate in the program, to enhance their professional development, and to build their network with fellow scholars. The International Travel Awards defray transportation, hotel accommodations, and other expenses incurred for the Annual or International Meetings. Please visit the travel award page for information on eligibility, criteria, and application instructions.

2019 Call for Papers

Co-hosted by the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Academy of Religion, the 2019 Annual Meetings will be held November 23-26 in San Diego, California. The call for papers for the 2019 Annual Meeting will open on December 19. Proposals will be accepted through 6 March 2019. You can review the program units participating in 2019 here.

The call for papers for the 2019 International Meeting remains open. The deadline for submission for the International Meeting is 30 January 2019.

Migration and Border Crossings

Columbia Theological Seminary and Emory University's Center for the Study of Law and Religion are co-hosting a multidisciplinary conference, "Migration and Border Crossings," February 7-9, with several partners, including the Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE), the World Council of Churches, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Presbyterian Church (USA). The conference will bring together leading theologians, legal scholars, activists and artists for conversations about responding to the movement of peoples and borders. Juan Felipe Herrera, U.S. Poet Laureate from 2015-17, and Emilie Townes, the Dean of Vanderbilt Divinity School, will give keynote addresses.
