Ancient Near Eastern Iconography and the Bible

Program Unit Type: Section
Accepting Papers? Yes

Call For Papers: For the 2018 Meeting, the Ancient Near Eastern Iconography and the Bible section, along with the Book of Psalms section, will co-sponsor a session devoted to "Revisiting Othmar Keel's Symbolism of the Biblical World, 45 Years Later." This session will be a combination of invited papers and selected papers that are submitted for consideration on this theme. Beyond this co-sponsored session, we invite papers for one or perhaps two other open sessions on topics that fall within the general parameters of the section, which deals with all aspects of ancient Near Eastern iconography and the Hebrew Bible. We especially welcome papers focused on figurines; the relationship between iconography and epigraphy, image and text; and how to make iconography accessible in teaching environments (esp. via online resources).
