Gender, Sexuality, and the Bible

Program Unit Type: Section
Accepting Papers? Yes

Call For Papers: For our FIRST SESSION,"Sex without the Song, Violence without Judges," we seek papers that apply theoretical approaches to gender and/or sexuality to biblical texts that are not typically read using these approaches. While much excellent work has been, and continues to be, done on topics such as gender in Genesis, sexual violence in Judges, the Song of Songs, eunuchs in the both the Hebrew Bible and New Testament, Paul's treatment of the body, and sex and Revelation, other texts have not received the same level of attention. For this panel, we seek papers that treat less familiar texts or topics, using the lenses of gender and/or sexuality. Our SECOND SESSION is an open session. Our THIRD SESSION is a session on Susanne Scholz's "The Bible as Political Artifact," cosponsored with Feminist Hermeneutics of the Bible. Panelists will be invited for this session.
