About SBL

The Society of Biblical Literature is the oldest and largest international scholarly membership organization in the field of biblical studies. Founded in 1880, the Society has grown to over 8,500 international members including teachers, students, religious leaders and individuals from all walks of life who share a mutual interest in the critical investigation of the Bible.
Harper Collins
The SBL has enjoyed a longtime partnership with HarperCollins in the production of valuable resources for biblical study. SBL members have served as editors, advisors, and contributors to the HarperCollins Study Bible (recently revised with concordance and in a student edition), the HarperCollins Bible Dictionary (currently in line for a third revision), and Harper’s Bible Commentary (now in a revised edition). We invite you to explore these publications.
