Jobs at the Annual Meeting

The Employment Center, sponsored by SBL and the American Academy of Religion, provides the opportunity for employers and those seeking employment to register for interviews at the Annual Meetings, as well as interview facilities, job listings, candidate credentials, and a messaging service. The point is for both candidates and employers to reduce costs of travel and time by facilitating the engagement of both parties in multiple interviews in a neutral environment. As the Annual Meetings are the major congressional venue for reporting current research, meeting colleagues, and making new connections, they also offers candidates the opportunity to obtain professional development—by engaging scholars, hearing lectures, giving papers, and participating in sessions.

  • Please note the Terms and Conditions for posting an ad with the Career Center.
  • SBL expects all employers to comply with Federal EEO laws.  For disability needs concerning the Career Center, please contact Charlie Haws. The Career Center will make every effort to appropriately accommodate individuals with disabilities.
  • Please see this additional information.

Candidate Registration
Candidate registration is available through Annual Meeting registration. Candidates may pre-register for $25 to post their credentials in a secure online forum accessible only to registered employers. Registered candidates are also able to contact registered employers and set-up interviews at the Annual Meetings Employment Center. The CV upload function is not yet available. We will send an email to all registered candidates to let them know how to do this as soon as it is ready.

CV Submission System

The CV Submission and Review System is scheduled to open August 15, 2012. If you have registered as a candidate before that date, then you will receive instructions on how to upload your CV into the system via e-mail on August 15, 2012. If you register as a candidate for the Employment Center after the CV Submission and Review system has opened, then you will receive instructions on how to upload your CV via e-mail within 48 hours of registering for the Employment Center.

You will be able to upload your CV at any time between August 15, 2012 and February 15, 2013 once you receive your submission instructions. Employers will be able to review CVs at any point in time during this period as well once they register. CVs will be organized by both a primary and secondary classification and will be accessible by both classifications and candidates’ names.

More information on candidate registration and services, including answers to frequently asked questions, is available here.
